Traditional Hutsul Gerdan

This gerdan reflects the geometric language of the Ukrainian Carpathians, where beadwork has long been a form of cultural expression. The repeating diamond motif — central to this piece — is one of the oldest symbols in Ukrainian ornamentation, representing harmony, protection, and continuity.

Historically, such patterns were woven into garments and jewelry by hand, with each region developing its own variations through color and composition. In Hutsul culture, strong contrasts and rhythmic symmetry became a recognizable signature — bold, structured, and deeply rooted in tradition.

Each gerdan is handcrafted in Ukraine using glass beads, following traditional techniques. Due to its handmade nature, slight variations in pattern and length may occur — making every piece truly one of a kind.
